DESCRIPTION

Although it lacks the exploratory elements of its 16-bit counterparts, Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya for the Game Gear is a worthy entry in the strategy/role-playing series. The storyline, which involves retrieving the titular sword, plays out between turn-based battles. In town you can revive characters and purchase new equipment, but traveling is done for you, and fighting is what the game's all about. Luckily, it's done pretty well. Enemies are varied, the action moves quickly and smoothly, and the graphics are for the most part well above average for the system. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
