DESCRIPTION
Gamers travel back to 1888 and take on the role of fiction's greatest detective as he tries to track down history's most notorious serial killer in this graphic adventure from developer Frogwares. A series of grisly prostitute murders leaves citizens in London's Whitechapel district terrified, and Sherlock Holmes is called in to find the culprit, a man the press has dubbed Jack the Ripper, who seemingly leaves behind no evidence and no clues as to his true identity. Players can switch between first-person and third-person perspectives as they navigate London's seamy underworld, scouring crime scenes for anything the police may have missed, interviewing locals, and interrogating mysterious suspects. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide

“Pro's:
+ length (took around 20 hours to complete).
+ good plot - I found myself playing in order to see what happens next when I should be doing something else... The ending was also good, and matching the atmosphere of the game.
+ atmosphere - dark, dreary London, lots of people on the streets. Rather slow pace, but I enjoyed it. The game focuses more on examining things and observing closely than on action.
+ logical puzzles. No need to try to figure out what impossible things the creators cooked up, more relying on common sense.
Con's:
- "insert original CD" blah blah. 1 in 5 attempts to run the game ended up in this. Quite annoying, though not unplayable. The game also checks the CD when saving / loading, which hangs it up for several seconds.
- some parts were CPU-heavy for some reason.
- it was a bit too easy. Maybe it's because everything was logical, but I got stuck only once.
- translation (Polish). Some of deduction board stuff didn't quite add up. Dialogues were left in English, so I could see that subtitles didn't match in places. At least one puzzle didn't make sense thanks to translation mistakes.
There's quite a lot of reading in the game, but I didn't mind. Only a couple of papers bored me... They just weren't concise enough.”

“"Insert original CD" problem. :/ Thankfully the game loaded when run directly from its folder. I hope it won't give me the error anymore =__= It's not like I paid a fortune for it, but I...”
