DESCRIPTION
FASA Corporation's cyberpunk role-playing game is the inspiration for this futuristic first-person shooter from the development team behind such titles as MechWarrior, MechAssault, and Crimson Skies. Loosely based on the pen-and-paper RPG, Shadowrun for Xbox 360 and PC takes place in the year 2021, where advanced technology and arcane magic are both used in warfare between the RNA, a ruthless megacorporation, and the Lineage, a resistance force. Players will choose either side as they engage in team-based combat supporting up to 16 players via Xbox Live.
An offline training mode is included to help players perfect their shooting skills against AI bots, but the heart of the game is its multiplayer component. To ensure the widest possible community, Shadowrun features cross-platform technology, allowing both PC and Xbox 360 owners to team up or compete against one other in an assortment of game types. Each faction offers a choice of human, elf, dwarf, and troll characters with distinct racial traits, such as health regeneration and technical skill. In between battles, players can purchase magic, technology, or weapons to use in combat, from vision enhancements to teleportation spells. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Different Tech, Magic, Guns, and every race is unique means a different experience every game! Makes me sad that the makers of Shadowrun went out of business.”

I rarely have a lot of time to play online games with others, so unless I play with the bots (which probably sucks the fun out) I'm afraid all I can do is leave it with the chapters completed.”

“Definitely not your standard FPS. Teleport through walls, summon minions to do your bidding, resurrect your teammates, turn into smoke to avoid damage, see enemies through walls, glide around the map and much more in this FPS remake of the classic game. Magic has awakened and you must fight for control of it using a combination of magic and technology. Combat has changed, are you ready?”

“Neat concept, but execution is terrible. Bought literally for $1.82 at Sears on clearance. Too many "abilities" and not enough buttons to control them all.”

“This game is my all time favorite shooter. There were just so many combinations of spells, tech, weapons and race that it could be fun forever. The only issue is that FASA was shut down and it stopped being updated, then the community died.”

“I enjoyed my time with Shadowrun. The class selection isn't the most diverse, but loadouts, between cyberware, magic and equipment, are diverse and unique enough so that every match can almost feel like a different game. Absolutely worth a look.”
