DESCRIPTION
With a little help from the furry blue muppet Grover and the friendly Zips (from the planet Zap), Sesame Street: Astro-Grover helps children (ages three to six) work on their counting, adding, and subtracting skills. It also challenges kids to understand number/numeral correspondence and number pattern recognition. The Zips are here to visit and play with Astro-Grover. Kids must help him greet these strange but likable aliens.
Level One is "How Many Zips?" After stopping a ship full of Zips with Grover's beam, players must count the number of aliens who exit the ship and greet them from the center of the screen. If children answer correctly, the creatures will build one part of the city. To completing the city requires five rounds of play.
"Beam That Number" is next. Here, children use Grover's beam to find the number of Zips on a spaceship in order to send it into orbit. In Level Three, "Adding Countdown," the Zips are preparing to return to Zap and players must beam them aboard their mother ship. "Take It Away Zips!" (the fourth level) requires children to count the Zips as they take one last blast before heading home. After three correct answers in levels three and four, math symbols appear under the launch pad, transforming the numbers into an equation.
Finally, it's almost time for Astro-Grover's pals to go. As they fly down to say goodbye, you must count them before they reach the city, and also add up numbers on three beam bases in order to match the number on the spaceship. Three correct answers sends the ship on its happy way to planet Zap. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
