Sega Rally Championship offers off-road racing in three modes of play: arcade, time attack, and two-player battle. Only two cars are available for selection, a Celica or Delta, both of which can have either an automatic or manual transmission. There is also a feature that allows the cars to be specially tuned.
Arcade mode lets you race against 14 computer opponents through a series of courses. Each course can be run either one or three laps. Time attack is simply trying to set time records. Here you can race three laps or a free run which allows you to race an infinite amount of laps. An option allows you to turn on or off a ghost car.
In two-player mode you race against a friend via a split screen. A race can be run three laps, five laps, or time lag. During time lag the first car to reach the checkpoint sets a countdown in motion. At this time the second car has to reach the checkpoint before the time expires. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
