DESCRIPTION
As Scuba Diver opens, you find yourself atop a boat in the middle of the ocean. Below you are several dangerous fish that would just love to have you for dinner. Carefully time your jump into the water and start hunting with your spear gun. You have 60 seconds of oxygen available, and you can replenish your supply by reentering the boat through its bottom.
In order to reach the second level of the game, you must harpoon all the fish on the screen and then enter the sunken ship at the bottom of the screen. Be careful when maneuvering in the sunken ship since the walls are very sticky, and you must wiggle your joystick to free yourself if you get caught. If you hit a wall too hard you will be unable to free yourself. The oxygen meter continues to count down.
Inside the sunken ship are three indestructible sea monsters that protect the treasure. To avoid them, you can slip into narrow openings that the sea monsters cannot enter. After obtaining the treasure, you must return to your boat to end the game. The game also ends when you have lost all four of your divers.
Points are awarded for the total number of fish killed (500 per fish) and for the total number of treasure chests retrieved during one dive (500 for one, 1500 for two, and 11,500 for three).
Scuba Diver was also released under the titles Sea Hunt and Skin Diver. ~ Michael Schwartz/Joan Dykman, All Game Guide
