DESCRIPTION

Scooby Doo! Night of 100 Frights is loosely based upon the Scooby Doo cartoon series, and thus strays little from the show's basic formula. The Scooby Gang (consisting of Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and of course, Scooby Doo) attempts to unravel the mystery behind a haunted mansion where Daphne's friend's scientist father was working. Controlling the lovable canine himself, players must explore 12 levels spread across four different areas in and around the mansion.

Within each area are dozens of obstacles that require Scooby to make carefully timed jumps, activate switches, and dispatch any monsters in his path. While Scooby's primary means of offense is a jumping attack, as players progress through the adventure new powers can be found or bought, including a football helmet which enables Scooby to ram into enemies. Found strewn throughout the in-game environments are Scooby snacks. Collect the requisite number and the four-limbed protagonist will gain access to new areas. Once acquired, new items can be put to use in previously completed stages in order to unlock or discover previously hidden areas and secrets.

Fans of the cartoon will be pleased to learn Fred's voice is portrayed by the voice actor from the original '70s show, while the others are brought to life by actors from later incarnations of the program. While exploring the mansion, Scooby and friends will utter classic lines from the series, some of which are even accompanied by a laugh track. Twenty different monsters from Scooby mythology make an appearance in the game, attempting to stop the cowardly canine from solving the mystery. Zoinks! ~ Gavin Frankle, All Game Guide
