DESCRIPTION
Scooby-Doo! Classic Creep Capers is a third-person graphic adventure starring the Scooby Gang. While the sleuths were in hot pursuit of a jewel thief disguised as Mr. Hyde, The Mystery Machine broke down in front of a creepy mansion. Now they must investigate the mansion and its surrounding buildings to determine who or what is responsible for the missing jewels. Players can switch between Fred, Daphne, Velma, or the duo of Shaggy and Scooby at any time during the game's six chapters, exploring specific areas of the mansion and interacting with items.
As players move from room to room using one of the characters, they will be able to examine highlighted items more closely using the Search Icon, speak to others using the Talk Icon, and either activate or take objects with the Use Item Icon. As with most titles in the genre, players often need to combine certain items to help solve one or more of the puzzles. Characters will also be abducted or disappear at certain parts in the game, so Shaggy and Scooby need to determine a way to rescue them while avoiding robots and ghosts.
Fans of the animated series may recognize the plot, as the game is based on an episode entitled "Nowhere to Hyde," which originally aired on September 12, 1970. As players gather the clues needed to solve the mystery, new chapters will allow them access to different parts of the mansion. Each new chapter also offers a password players can use to continue their progress. Is the mastermind behind the stolen jewels the ghost of Mr. Hyde? Or could it be scientist Dr. Jekyll? The Scooby Gang may have to capture them to settle it once and for all. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
