DESCRIPTION
Rubies of Eventide is a massively multiplayer persistent world game that puts a heavy emphasis on role-playing. The game strives to reward players for role-playing and thinking strategically in the context of the fantasy world, as opposed to mindless stat-maxing and leveling up. The online-only title is designed from the foundation up to encourage gamers to play in-character, allowing them to perform whatever actions they feel are appropriate for their characters but also imposing realistic checks and balances for all actions in the context of the game world. Players who decide to enter the game as an evil character will be able to rob, steal, and murder but will also develop fitting reputations for their heinous acts, which can make more elevated interaction difficult with the generally "good" members of society.
Rubies of Eventide allows players to mix and match character attributes, selecting characteristics and abilities from a wide variety of options. By avoiding restrictions on class, race, and skills, the game is designed to let the player develop exactly the sort of customized character desired. Battles are fought in an integrated form of turn-based combat, designed to allow players to plan strategically while maintaining a sense of action and urgency. Combat between player characters can take place after they've gained a few levels and slain characters can usually be brought back through the services of a local temple. The game world is a classic fantasy setting; a pleasant, fertile land once home to peaceful humans, elves, and dwarves, which has recently come to suffer from increased bandit attacks and unexplained uprisings of dangerous monsters. ~ T.J. “My first real love in the MMORPG land, as well as the place where I joined my first guild. It's a free, amateurly-made game, so even after years of work it remains incomplete and unreliable, but it is still no end of fun.”
