DESCRIPTION
Adapted from the popular 1982 Atari 2600 game, River Raid for the ColecoVision is basically the same game. Seen from an overhead view, you control a jet fighter that flies above a river while shooting helicopters, battleships, hot air balloons, fuel depots, land tanks, jets and bridges. Once you cross a bridge, you will begin again at that point if you die without crossing another bridge and you still have at least one fighter left.
Your fighter is equipped with an unlimited supply of bullets, but you must refuel frequently by flying over fuel depots that are situated at various points on the river. In addition to shooting, refueling, moving forward and veering right and left, the fighter can slow down and speed up. Your goal in River Raid is to score as many points as you can while trying to keep your jet from crashing or running out of fuel. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
