DESCRIPTION
Listen up soldier! You're on a mission to retrieve the flag from the enemy's base by using four different vehicles to perform this operation. A heavily armored tank armed with an independently rotating turret is capable of quickly leveling enemy structures, while the Armored Support Vehicle allows you to launch missiles at defenses and barriers, as well as lay mines for the enemy to stumble across. Use a helicopter to make a quick run across enemy territory and scope out where their flag lies, then use the jeep to retrieve it and bring it back to base.
Are you listening? This isn't going to be an easy battle grunt, because they've got defenses up the wazoo and will not let you simply march your green hide over there and return with their flag. They've got turrets, choppers, tanks, armed soldiers and more trying to shoot you down or blow you up. You'll have to tear through reinforced walls, bunkers, trees, buildings and even run over tents and medical centers, squashing their troops like a bug under a combat boot, finally reaching their flag tower.
Listen up! There's only one flag, but there may be multiple flag towers used as decoys, so verify it's there before wasting ammo and vehicles in an attempt to get it! If you run out of fuel or ammo in the heat of battle, refueling stations and ammunition depots are located about; go to your own, or use the enemy's. You only have a limited supply of vehicles and if you lose all your Jeeps or your flag gets stolen, it's game over son!
The first map is just a simple course showing you the basics — a reconnaissance mission to capture the flag and return it, but over a hundred maps are included, forcing you to traverse bodies of water, blast through multitudes of defenses and tear through masses of trees while doing everything you can to keep you and your fellow soldiers alive. And if you're feeling a grudge against a fellow soldier, a second recruit can join in for a split-screen mode, where you both have to defend your bases and flags from each other.
To get you in the mood for destruction, your battle will be backed by classical music, such as Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries or The Flight of the Bumblebee, among others delivered in Dolby Surround Sound. And maybe, if you're successful in your attempt, you'll be rewarded will full-motion video clips for a job well done. Every vehicle, soldier and object out there has been motion-rendered, bringing a sense of realism stronger than the taste of our rations and much more pleasing to the eyes.
This isn't some namby-pamby war simulation grunt, this was designed by an actual Baron — Baron R. K. Von Wolfsheild — who deemed it worthy of supporting both standard game pads and the C.H. Products Flightstick Pro. In-game instructions give you the lowdown on what to do and how to do it.
What are you looking at? This is Return Fire and this is war! Now go out there and make Uncle Sam proud to have you in his army! ~ Geoffrey Douglas Smith, All Game Guide
