DESCRIPTION
The first game in Capcom's blockbuster survival-horror series designed with a real-time 3D polygonal engine, Resident Evil 4 is freed from the camera limitations and static backgrounds of past titles. Players guide Leon S. Kennedy, the lead protagonist in Resident Evil 2, in an adventure taking them deep within the Umbrella Corporation. The result is a battle for survival as players confront mutated biological experiments, zombies, and other creatures of suspicious origin. Leon comes equipped with a revolver but will still be able to find various other weapons along the way. Environments include rain-soaked alleyways, decrepit sewers, and castle-like structures. Hiroshi Shibata, who previously worked on Resident Evil 3, makes his directorial debut in this GameCube-exclusive release, with Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Dino Crisis 2, Devil May Cry) serving as producer. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“The only Resident Evil game I really played or liked. The perspective was not only usable, but extremely fun. The story wasn't too deep, but it made me care enough about the characters and beating the game. The puzzles were fun, but I don't remember them being too challenging ever. The game's challenge, on the other hand, came from all the damn enemies! And I mean this in a good way. The regular enemies didn't ever get boring, although annoying in large groups. The more boss-like enemies were always comfortably tough, killing me a lot at first and then eventually I'd figure them out and it would be really satisfying to kill them. That's a point I'd like to stress about the challenges in this game; it's always satisfying to overcome them. Probably the only thing I didn't like much about this game was the few times that something would just pop up in my face and make me drop the controller or fly off my chair. The scary that the game had was perfect without that. So, this was probably one of my favorite shooter-style games, as well as being one of the few horror/survival games I got into. Very enjoyable.”

The graphics are WAY better on the cube. And while you're at it pick up the Metroid trilogy of 3D games and Viewtiful Joe....just for a start. You will NOT be sorry.”

“The Resident Evil series got a much needed make over with this installment. It had unmatched gameplay in the survival horror department, a story to match, and you really felt like you were Leon. Gamecube needed this title as well, drop dead gorgeous.”
