DESCRIPTION
The Red Baron is back, this time in accelerated 3D with massive multi-player capability (up to 64 players). The skies are once again filled with WWI aces dogfighting for supremacy in aerial combat as players choose from 22 flyable airplanes and duke it out with over 40 unique aircraft.
Red Baron 3-D builds on the popularity of the original title by featuring multiple user-defined difficulty levels, single missions or a full tour of duty in campaign mode, a Mission Builder that allows complete customization of missions and a Plane Paintshop for customizing the look of your airplanes. The game also contains enhanced realistic textures for fog, explosions, sun-glare, buildings, planes and anti-aircraft gunfire as well as low altitude terrain perspectives and cloud variations with layering effects. User preferences in dozens of areas of graphics and realism are supported through game setup options.
The interface supports joystick (required), mouse, keyboard, flight yokes and rudder pedals along with SVGA graphics and 3Dfx acceleration. A new transparent cockpit option is featured for ease of viewing your surroundings whether strafing the enemy or scouting territory. Seven tutorials are provided to allow familiarization with various aspects of the game from changing preferences and flying missions to mission creation and campaign techniques.
Red Baron 3-D's in-depth manual covers a wide variety of subjects from gameplay preferences to an extensive historical overview of flight and air combat leading up to and during World War I. Free Internet multi-player competition is also offered at several online gaming sites such as www.won.net. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
