DESCRIPTION

Rampart is medieval battle over castles and territory. As lord, you rule over three phases of action: battle, repair castle, and place cannons. During battle enemy cannons fire at your fortifications, while you attempt to annihilate their positions. After that, players must rebuild their fortifications in order to encircle at least one castle. Also, in order to remain powerful and successful, players must encircle extra space for their cannons and their prestige. Furthermore, enemy ships occasionally drop off invading troops. These troops must be either brushed off of the land or they will destroy castles on the coast.

Rampart for the NES is a conversion from Rampart in the arcades. So, compete for points or survival in single-handed play; or for honor and prestige in head-to-head war. ~ Jeff Irwin, All Game Guide
