In terms of gameplay, Q*bert 3 remains joyously faithful to the original Q*bert, as the title character hops around a formation(s) of cubes, changing them to a certain color. However, Q*bert 3 ups the ante (and the degree of challenge) by introducing a variety of playfield designs composed of dice, teeth, flags, gift boxes, briefcases, and other items. Players can even catch fruit for extra points. There are also a number of new enemies, such as Frogg, who chases Q*bert, and Top Hat and Derby, who jump in fixed positions. The Super NES controller handles the action perfectly, and an array of dazzling backgrounds makes this one of the better-looking puzzle-type games for any system. Cute music and sound effects round out this entertaining, highly addictive sequel. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
