DESCRIPTION
The space shooter series known as Silpheed receives a next-gen sequel (and a slight spelling change) in Project Sylpheed for Xbox 360. Players will experience a more story-driven effort this time around, with nearly an hour's worth of cinematic cut-scenes detailing the adventures of a crack pilot named Katana and his Delta Saber squadron. The mission-based action primarily involves engaging hundreds of enemy fighters, towering battleships, and floating fortresses in 3D space. Project Sylpheed features a choice of 50 customizable weapon schemes that offer both offensive and defensive capabilities, from slow motion effects to the ability to unleash multiple weapons on a single target. Katana's starfighter comes equipped with a rechargeable shield to minimize damage, and he will also be able to count on his wingmen to provide assistance. Players can issue basic commands to their wingmen and even adjust their formations to improve their odds of completing mission objectives. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“A great space fighter, but not a game for those that just want to kill things mindlessly”

“Every once in a while I revisit this game in an attempt to progress the achievements forwards. It takes many playthroughs to attain them all, apparently - I'm only on my third.”

“Not bad, though having to play through a bajillion times to get the achievements isn't so hot.”

“Took Project Sylpheed back out for a spin, determined to increase my achievement count in that game. I spent what seemed like ages chasing after Raymond in Mission 6, blasting any fighters near him...”

“Working on another tricky achievement (kill 25 warships and 100 fighters in a particular mission) means I need to keep abandoning a mission when I fail. Bit of an annoyance.”

“Managed to get the 'destroy two S Battleships' achievement, missed it the first go 'rounds.”

“Stuck on a mission I had no real issues with first time through. bleah.”

“Maybe, having played through the story once already, I'm just not paying enough attention - suddenly I seem to die more often.”

“Collected the achievement for 50 games played; I guess that's not just games played online, seemed to include single player games, and possibly tutorial games (I could only seem to find a history...”

“Madden went better than last time - though my offense is still the pits. Indy vs. San Diego; best play of the game was an early punt I made to the 1 yard line... Schooner2000 didn't move his guy out...”

“Little bit of Sylpheed to move the sticks - something I couldn't manage to do in Madden. Played a game where I was the Steelers, at home. Couldn't catch a break at all - run game not working, Big...”

“Just going through the story, building up my credits to buy better weapons (there's an achievement if you get them all).”

“Started another play through, knocked off a couple of small achievements (shoot down 1000 warplanes, 100 ships)...”

“Well, I finished the game, though will probably play it through another time or two to knock off some of the other achievements. It won't win awards, but it's a quick and fun game.”

“The story took a somewhat predictable "Death Star"-ish turn, but is still somewhat fun. Three levels left.”
