DESCRIPTION
After the elements destroyed your civilization, all you have left is a small boat, an even smaller group of followers, and your crown. Upon landing on rich foreign soil, you knew it was your destiny to rule over these lesser folk as it was theirs to serve you. In Power Monger, your goal is to take control of up to 195 territories until you unite the land under your rule. To do this, you must make your way to the territory on the lower right hand corner of the map screen (you start at the upper left corner).
How you conquer each settlement is up to you; you can form an alliance with the people or persuade them with deadly force. While you do not have to conquer all 195 territories to win the game, some routes are more treacherous than others. During your campaign you must gather and manage three resources: food, recruits and weapons, all of which can be taken from conquered settlements.
The game uses a point-and-click interface along with five windows that show: (1) an isometric view of the land, its buildings and people; (2) text information to keep you apprised of the situation; (3) an overview window that shows the surrounding territory; (4) view control window to zoom or rotate the land; and (5) a command bar detailing all the orders you can give, including spy, trade, alliance, transfer men, attack and more. The game is played out in real-time and can be continued via password, because even ruthless leaders need a break between conquests. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
