DESCRIPTION
Although unoriginal in design and simple in concept (the fire button is inactive), Ebivision's Power Off is a formidable challenge, even for players who have mastered such similar titles as Popeye, BurgerTime, Donkey Kong, Miner 2049'er, and Space Panic. Players run and climb around a robot-filled playfield consisting of eight platforms connected by ladders. The object is to dodge the robots while collecting 16 blocks positioned at various points along the floors. What makes it a tough go is the fact that when you die the screen refills to 16 blocks regardless of how many you have collected. Also, the robots tend to hang out by the ladders, and lining up the character to climb the ladders is needlessly difficult, requiring way too much precision. Like Pac-Man, Mario Bros. and certain other games, this one rewards you with extra points for touching the objects in quick succession. The graphics are serviceable, sounds are better left turned down, and the fun factor is above average, despite the overused formula. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
