DESCRIPTION
Pokémon: Yellow Version — Special Pikachu Edition is a remake of the popular Pokémon: Red Version and Pokémon: Blue Version cartridges for the Nintendo Game Boy with Pikachu front and center, a slightly different storyline, and enhanced graphics.
The player still controls Ash in his quest to become the best Pokémon trainer in the land, but this time he's stuck with Pikachu following him everywhere. Professor Oak finds him in a field and gives him to Ash. Unlike the earlier renditions of the game, Ash's rival is also given a Pokémon of his own at the beginning: Eevee.
Ash will also have to contend with Team Rocket and their leaders, Jesse and James, just like in the earlier versions, although in a slightly different manner. The confrontations are more heated this time around, with the first one coming at Mount Moon.
The graphics are enhanced, with Cerulean City shaded blue and Lavendar Town colored pale purple. The monsters are more detailed as well, and some of them are more animated, especially Pikachu.
Players can now print out their Pokémon lists on the Game Boy Printer, and two can go head-to-head with a link cable. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide

It was better than the Red or Blue version, but basically was the same game, just improved graphics, slightly different battles, and like 2 extra bonus areas. The main story and objective was still the same however. Still a great game and it contained some Pokemon from both Red and Blue.”

“The Pokemon games are all nearly identical: big worlds full of collectibles, items, and turn-based RPG strategy. The originals are simple and streamlined, albeit repetitive. Yellow's Pikachu-centric storyline mixes things up a bit.”
