DESCRIPTION
Enter the world of Pokémon, a world where you collect, train, and battle with all the little Pokémon creatures. In this major Japanese hit, you play in an RPG world collecting and trading the little Pokémon. Your real goal in the game is to collect all 150 Pokémon, and to do that you will probably need to trade with someone who has the Red Version of Pokémon, using the Game Link.
Each monster you get can be trained in different ways, making each monster different — the possibilities are endless. Not only do you collect and trade your monsters, but you also battle them against the computer to beat the game. But just beating the game isn't all you are going to want to do. Your main goal is to catch 'em all! ~ Josh Babich, All Game Guide

“This was my very first pokemon game. For it's time, (especially considering the Gameboy games at the time), this was unbelievably good. Not only was it an RPG, but you could catch, raise 150 creatures (+1) and assemble your own team to strategically because everyone was weak to certain elements. A great game.”

“I dedicate this entire mini-review to the memory of My Blastoise (9/28/98-2008). He was my first pokemon. Traded him from Pokemon blue to red then to Crystal where he rested in peace for the last couple years before my game erased magically itself.”

“The Pokemon games are all nearly identical: big worlds full of collectibles, items, and turn-based RPG strategy. The originals are simple and streamlined, albeit repetitive.”
