DESCRIPTION
Blue Burst is based on the gameplay, back story, and settings established in the Dreamcast's original online console RPG, Phantasy Star Online. Beginning a new chapter in the outer space saga, "Episode IV," the online PC game allows players to create a customized character from a choice of 12 models and three professions. These heroes then join with other adventurers to explore the strange and often dangerous planet of Ragol, gaining experience and recovering powerful equipment from fallen foes as they go. The game supports teams and allows them to compete with one another for rankings. Similar to the contemporary Guild Wars (and unlike the earlier console versions of Phantasy Star Online), Blue Burst characters and saved games are stored on the servers instead of on the user's machine; this discourages hacking and allows gamers to play from any Internet-connected PC with the specs to run the game. ~ T.J. “Sega was stupid to give up on their initial PSO game in favor of PSU. This title brings back fond memories on the Dreamcast, and can be played on a private server.”

“Phantasy Star Online : Blue Burst was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast console in the year 2000. The console, as well as this very intriguing game was released way before its time. The game will start slow as do many other mmo games out there. You are given some simple items to begin the game with and with very few buttons pushes needed, you pick up on this game very quickly. Once the console had failed, Phantasy Star continued to live on through future consoles and most recently through the PC by the power of a single man. He bought the servers from Sega and continued to maintain them and keep them online. To this day you can still get online and play with the veterans and fans of this game. I give Phantasy Star Online : Blue Burst a 5/5.”

“Starting playing Blue Burst, PSU is just missing something I'm not sure what but it's just not as fun as PSO even with its dated graphics and questionable controls.”

“For a game its age, PSO is still fun and engaging. All three hunter types are fun in their own ways, and it's even better with a group of friends.”
