Worldwide soccer legend Pele lent his name and face to Pele's Soccer for the Atari 2600, in one of the video game world's first such tie-ins.
In Pele's Soccer, each team consists of three controllable players and one semi-controllable goalie. Most of the basic rules of soccer apply — you can pass, dribble and shoot, and depending on the game variation, you can also have out-of-bounds penalties.
Each of your three players moves in unison, and your goalie is only controllable after he has the ball, so it's up to the computer to block the other team's shots.
In all, there are 54 game variations (27 one-player and 27 two-player), which allow for different team speeds, computer difficulty and goal sizes. Each game consists of two halves lasting from three to five minutes each, depending on the team speed selected. ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
