DESCRIPTION

A hybrid of Tetris and Pac-Man, Pac-Attack incorporates the falling block puzzle aspects of the former and the ghost-eating action of the latter. Twist and turn the blocks to line them up; when you complete a line of blocks, they vanish. Unfortunately, ghosts also fall from the top of the screen, cluttering up the playfield. Fortunately, Pac-Man appears from time to time and you can put him into position to gobble up the ghosts.

In the Normal Mode of play, the game continues until the blocks and/or ghosts have stacked up to the top of the playfield. The Puzzle Mode consists of 100 levels. You complete a level when you have gotten Pac-Man to eat all of the ghosts. If all of the ghosts are not eaten after a certain number of blocks and ghosts have fallen from the top of the screen, you lose. You can retry each level over and over, and there is a password feature that enables you to save your progress.

If you can get with a friend who also owns a Game Gear and a copy of Pac-Attack, you can hook up the systems using a Gear-to-Gear cable and engage in the 2-Player Versus Mode. The two-player game is similar to the Normal Mode, except that whoever survives the longest wins the round. Both modes of play incorporate fairies into the action. Each ghost Pac-Man eats adds a little gold to the Fairy Meter. When the meter is full, a fairy jumps onto the screen and throws a gold dust spell, effectively removing all the ghosts below it. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
