DESCRIPTION
In the sardonic spirit of Dungeon Keeper comes Overlord, where being "bad" is not only blindly accepted, it's gleefully encouraged. Overlord is a fantasy action title viewed from a third-person perspective behind your Sauron-inspired character, who is imbued with the dark power to command up to 50 mischievous minions to do his bidding. How they go about their baneful business is largely up to you, as part of the attraction in Overlord is how your actions influence and shape the tongue-in-cheek world around you. Players bent on obliterating towns instead of liberating them, for example, will witness groveling villagers instead of cheering ones.
The overall objective is to defeat the kingdom's seven rival rulers, all while growing in power and stature by learning spells, forging new weapons, and acquiring different items. The imp-like minions possess one of four roles (warrior, mage, assassin, and healer), each offering distinct strengths to help would-be overlords accomplish their goals. As players gain more control of the land, they can improve their alter ego's base of operations: the Dark Tower, home to loyal minions, captured prisoners, and even an alluring mistress to relieve some of the stress that inevitably comes with conquering the world. Online support is also included for both cooperative and competitive play. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“You have a horde of minions who smash things and wear the stuff they find as armour, including pots and pans, pumpkins, and in one memorable case, a woman's bra. What's not to like?”

“ Really awesome game launched by Codemasters in 2007.
Basicaly we are ressurected by an horde of minions to be the next Overlord of this fantasy world and our aim is to regain the control of the realm by colecting items stolen from our tower after the previous overlord dismiss (actually he was killed), and by completing quests that go from release a group of villagers to explore new parts of the realm.
In this game we start controling 1 of a total of 4 different kinds of minions (browns, reds, greens and blues) each kind of minions have their own special habilities that help us to overcome the problems we meet in our path to control the realm, the puzzles basicaly go around this...we need to figure out what kind of minions to use in every situation.
Beside the awesome graphics and game interface the keen dark humor is just suberb. One game that every gamer should have in his collection.”

“A very humorous game where you play Sauron. The humor is very similar to the Fable series.”

“Completed one more quest. This game would be a lot more enjoyable with a decent quest/map system. I'm relying in a game guide for the moments where I wander off the path the game expects you to stay...”

“I started up Overlord again after several months of ignoring the game on my bookshelf. I had given up last time I started it because of the minion micromanagement required for one of the first...”

“A very good game. Full of humour. Many fun and evil things to do. You can, more or less, become a god. you can trade the future of the elven race for a big pile of shiny gold. Sure, the evil could probably use a bit more.. Evil. But a great game.”

“Reminds me a bit of the Dungeon Keeper games, but more hands-on and combat oriented. You lead your minions onto the battlefield, instead of just building up your dungeon. There's still some fun customization of your fortress though.”
