What do you get when you give checkers an Eastern twist? Othello, the classic board game that pits black against white in a winner take all match of wits.
Those familiar with the board game will easily pick up the video game version, but for those who are not familiar, the rules are simple. The object is to have your color game piece occupy as many of the board's 64 spaces as possible. In doing so, your goal is to arrange your pieces so your opponent's color is in-between two of yours. This will allow you to "flip" their piece so it becomes one of yours. But always pay attention: a game's worth of hard work can all be for naught as your opponent can take over by gaining control of a large number of your pieces in a single turn. In this way, Othello can be an exciting match of intellect. The game claims it takes "a minute to learn...a lifetime to master", which you'll soon find out is very true. So challenge your friends to a friendly game and see which one of you is the teacher and which one the pupil. ~ Joshua Hoffman, All Game Guide
