DESCRIPTION
Stylistically distinct, with a look that seems to combine tribal art with high-tech cel shading, Okami tells the story of the sun goddess Ameterasu, who has taken the form of a powerful wolf and come to bring light to the land. She will battle against other creatures form myth and legend, using claw and fang as well as her magical powers.
Although it was originally released for PlayStation 2, the game makes special use of the light gun-like Wii Remote in one of its most distinguishing features. To solve puzzles and reach new locations, Ameterasu can paint splashes of light and color across the screen, and the Wii controller's pointer features offer players an immediate, accurate virtual paintbrush. ~ T.J. “Okami is one of those "If you only buy one game this year" affairs. The developers have effortlessly captured something which is sadly all too lacking in the desparate scramble for a monopoly on innovative gaming. Okami is smooth and lacks the 'gimmicky' quality that makes its competitors seem puerile and ultimately pointless, and instead utilises the wii's capabilities in a charming and intuitive fashion. The celestial brush feels natural to use - although some gestures are frustratingly hard to perform at times, the general ease of use outweighs this. In addition, the gameplay and storyline feels like a living, breathing work of art. It's a real pleasure to play this game. Capcom once again show themselves to be the most sagacious team out there, I'd recommend Okami to anybody. It retails at only £7 or thereabouts nowadays, which in my opinion is criminally underpriced!”

“A game that throws you in to a fantasy land based off of Shinto beliefs and Japanese mythology, even playing as a wolf reincarnation of the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu with the mirror that brought the sun back (though they went with a circular mirror in the game instead of an 8-sided mirror). A fantastic game that balances humor and serious tones, along with colorful characters and a fantastic storyline. Knowing some Shinto and Japanese mythology makes this game absolutely amazing, but is not required to have fun with this game.”

The ambience was so carefully planned that I am really surprised this was ever released on any other format other than the Wii. Found a lone copy on the shelf at the shops, couldn't resist. :)”

“The world needs more beautiful cell shaded games with awesome story lines like this one, will we ever see a sequel? I hope so.”

“Okami just doesn't do it for me. Getting frustrated repeatedly over my lack of the ability to draw a straight line is not fun.”

“This game shines in showing that realistic graphics aren't always better. With absolutely beautifully shaded cel-style graphics, this game is an absolute must try regardless of your gaming tastes. Rent, at the very least.”

“Beautiful. Artistic. Good, intriguing story. Playing as a badass wolf. Issun gets a bit annoying after the point that you think he should stop giving you advice, but as long as Amateratsu keeps on trying to eat him, I'm okay with it.”
