DESCRIPTION
Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden series, which began as an arcade game in 1988, makes its long-awaited transition to 3D as an Xbox exclusive. Players guide master ninja Ryu Hayabusa (who made his Xbox debut as a playable fighter in Dead or Alive 3) through a variety of settings within Japan. Players can fight enemies using such tools of the trade as a katana, shuriken, and throwing knives, or call upon the power of the ninja arts — strong magic — to vanquish foes. Players will also encounter a number of puzzles as they jump, flip, and swing across levels. Familiar techniques from the eight-bit trilogy on the NES, such as the wall-spring jump, are featured in this 3D version as well. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Very good reboot that manages to be very different from the originals but respectful to what made the series great. The intense difficulty is back, but things are much more realistic this time. Platforming takes a backseat to combat this time, and needless to say the enemies are MUCH tougher than the ones on the NES. Sadly the anime influence is completely gone in this one, the character designs being realistic and seemingly more western in origin. This game is truly an action gaming blast however, and this more than makes up for the stylistic influences I miss. Highly recommended as an action game, few are as challenging but fun as this one. (owned, not completed (I'd be surprised if I ever beat this) accurate score is 8.5)”
