Swedish developer Termite Games' first release, New World Order, features a mix of tactics, stealth, and action. Although a team-based game designed primarily for play on the Internet or a LAN, single-player action is available with players taking the role of Global Assault Team (GAT) anti-terrorist agent and ex-Navy Seal John Dobbs. The GAT has free reign to combat the Syndicate, an evil association of separatists, terrorists, and freelance assassins, through a variety of missions in five game modes: Team Death Match, Team Escape, Plant the Bomb, Fallout, and Hostage Rescue.
This tactical team-based first-person shooter includes three difficulty levels and more than a dozen realistically modeled weapons ranging, from Glock and Desert Eagle pistols to assault rifles and mini-guns, as well as flash-bang grenades and C-4 bomb backpacks. Diverse environments include a mine, war zone, subway, drug lord villa, cargo ship, mansion, terrorist camp, tunnel, harbor, headquarters, pump facility, and the terrain of Sweden.
New World Order gameplay contains a ranking system that rewards players with points for inflicting damage, killing an opponent, and achieving team goals, while deducting experience points for inflicting damage on your own team and taking personal hits. Using the next-generation "DVA" engine, every pixel of the players' onscreen character is accounted for in determining damage. Gaining experience over a period of time will increase a player's rank from the starting level of Private to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Major, and Colonel. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
