DESCRIPTION
After seeing great success on platforms like the NES, TurboGrafx-16 and Game Boy, Hudson's Bomberman series hits the Neo Geo in the form of Neo Bomberman. Like the other Bomberman games, your goal is to bomb your way through blocks, collecting power-ups and trying to blast the other on-screen characters out of existence. You must also watch out for yourself, as one of your own bomb blasts can fry you just as easily as your enemies.
Your basic weapon is the bomb, which will explode in all four cardinal directions, destroying any creatures or blocks in its blast area. By collecting power-ups, you can increase the blast area of your bombs as well as the number of bombs you can lay on screen at one time. Other power-up items give you the ability to kick bombs across the screen and pick them up and throw them. Lastly, you can find eggs that hatch into different types of birds to ride. Birds each have their own abilities and also take bomb blasts for you. If you happen to be riding a bird when you get caught in a bomb blast, you don't die ... you just lose the bird.
Up to two players can play Neo Bomberman together and can choose from one of two modes. In the story mode, players must clear successive stages of monsters or boss characters. The duel mode pits a player against the CPU or two players against each other. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
