DESCRIPTION
Electronic Arts diverges from the realistic sport simulations for which the company is best known to present this extreme sports take on pick-up basketball. EA SPORTS BIG's NBA Street is designed to do the same thing for playground ball that their SSX Tricky did for snowboarding. In the sneakers of real-life basketball legends from on and off the professional courts, as well as exaggerated characters designed just for the game, players hit the asphalt for three-on-three competitions featuring fast action, loose rules, and no refs.
Winning teams can convince defeated players to join up and travel with them to their next destination, allowing the gamer to develop a bigger, more diverse squad as the game progresses to larger North American cities and more prestigious contests. Like any good arcade-style sports game, NBA Street features special power-ups and secrets to be unlocked. By winning games all across the country and building up respectable street credentials, the team may even earn a chance at the game's the ultimate challenge, as NBA legend Michael Jordan laces up the virtual hightops to show that he's still got the moves. ~ T.J.
