The family friendly "All Play" series continues on Wii with NBA Live 09, offering motion-sensing controls, lighthearted mini-games, and helpful visual cues for players of all skill levels. Once again novices can elect to have the computer control all on-court movement as they simply focus on shooting the ball. Fans of the early NBA Live games on 16-bit platforms can return to a similar control interface by holding the Wii Remote horizontally. More advance schemes are also available in an assortment of play modes, one of which provides interactive lessons in the "NBA Academy" training facility.
NBA fans can guide their favorite team through a complete season, or those looking for some multiplayer fun can partake in a three-point shootout, slam dunk contest, a game of 21, or a playground-style match featuring two-on-two action. In addition to the NBA, the game includes 22 WNBA players and 24 national teams from the FIBA tournament. Online support for up to eight players, four per console, is also available with a seamless interface that takes the guesswork out of hosting or joining a game. As with the publisher's earlier "All Play" titles on the console, Miis will appear via pop-up overlays at various points throughout a match. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
