The freshly titled NASCAR SimRacing represents a new, more simulation-oriented use of EA Sports' exclusive NASCAR license for home computer gamers. Unlike the publisher's annual console NASCAR: Chase for the Cup games, realism is the focus of this new PC title, and stars of the sport Ryan Newman and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. served as testers during the development process. In addition to the highly refined physics engine designed to produce an authentic driving "feel," the game re-creates all the most recognizable details of the sport, including 60 drivers and their teams, a series of 28 tracks, and scoring based on the 2005 NASCAR Nextel point system rules. Players can compete in the Craftsman Truck, National, or Nextel Cup series, and a number of different game modes are supported, from pick-up-and-play single races to multi-season careers. Up to 43 Internet-connected human drivers can compete against one another on the same online tracks, and can even use a microphone or headset to communicate with one another in real-time through the game's built-in Voice Over IP features. ~ T.J.
