DESCRIPTION
After solving the mysteries of Myst and Riven: The Sequel to Myst, the universe was seemingly brought into a state of peace. Unfortunately, the newfound harmony would only last so long. An enraged individual is seeking out vengeance on Sirrus and Achenar, the two men responsible for destroying his homeland. After their demise, he's planning on punishing Atrus and his family members for their insolence.
As a lone adventurer, you must prevent these events from happening and restore order to the once peaceful world. In Myst III: Exile, you'll explore five mysterious worlds filled with lavish gardens, ancient ruins and complex facilities. Each period also shares common links with the main storyline. Yet instead of using a static point-and-click navigational system to go from point A to point B, Presto Studios has revamped the moving process with a 360-degree rotational engine wrapped around rendered 3D environments.
Environments are laced with puzzles and interactive objects. While some puzzles focus on logic, others require deciphering in solving visual teasers and arrangements. When the solution isn't readily apparent, you can search out clues hidden throughout the current settings. Hints are also sporadically placed on the official website at www.myst3.com. Solving puzzles advances the storyline and positions you one step closer to preventing the villain's diabolical plans.
Shipping on four CD-ROMs, Myst III: Exile incorporates voice acting from Brad Dourif with an original soundtrack also released as a commercial album found in music stores. While graphic acceleration isn't required, those with the benefit of this technology will notice subtle visual enhancements including water ripples and environmental changes.
Will you overcome the maniacal villain or fall victim to his evil intentions? Prepare to immerse yourself in the realm of the unknown. ~ Matthew House, All Game Guide

“The puzzles are challenging and thematically rewarding, and the world's are gorgeous. Worth the time investment, even if it feels shorter and lighter than the other Myst games.”

“Oh, I was so excited when EXILE came out! More bright and cheerful than RIVEN, but more graphically rich than MYST. The puzzles seemed quite a bit easier, but maybe that worked for some people.”

“More immersive than earlier Myst games thanks to movable views, still as slow in pace as usual, but no less lovable for long-time fans of the series. Love it or hate it.”
