Using the power of the PlayStation 2, MTV and Codemasters have taken the original Music Generator a step further, bringing next-generation lighting and video effects to an improved, deeper interface. Would-be DJs and aspiring musicians can learn to sequence numerous rhythm, bass, vocal, and melodic samples from styles of music like indie, rock, pop, R&B, and trance.
The program also features advanced options for the more experienced user. Players can fine tune all aspects of the sequenced samples, change and add notes, or create new chords from a virtual keyboard. They can also alter the samples' volume and pan envelopes as well as add delay and reverberation sound effects.
A jukebox feature will play any of 15 pre-sequenced songs, complete with colorful video and lighting sequences, while the jamming option allows users to create music with video effects on the fly. Players can sample their favorite CDs or record vocals and other samples using a microphone with accessories (purchased separately) that connect via the PS2's USB port.
Songs and their video accompaniment can be saved onto memory card, along with any samples a user has imported. Various skins can also brighten up the interface once the player is accustomed to the controls. ~ Jay Semerad, All Game Guide
