Grave danger has come to Pac-Land. The Four Wonders, magnificent areas that are closed off to most of Pac-Land's inhabitants by magical force fields, have been invaded by the witch, Mesmerelda and her new henchmen, resident evils of the Pac-World, Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Sue. These baddies have collected the Gems of Virtue and are attempting to take over the rest of Pac-Land with their power. Fortunately, Professor Pac has given Ms. Pac-Man his new invention just moments before he's kidnapped by the witch. With it, Ms. Pac-Man can pass through the force field, travel the newly twisted Four Wonders, and finally battle Mesmerelda to save her world.
Ms. Pac-Man: Maze Madness, is an action-puzzle game that takes the old, dot-chomping action from the original arcade version and throws some new twists into the mix. It isn't called Maze Madness for nothing — players control Ms. Pac-Man as she navigates four different zones, each containing a number of interconnected mazes. These aren't traditional Pac-mazes, however, as they wind about in all manner of different directions. And although the dots are out in full force, they aren't the only objects the missus must contend with.
The four ghosts will pester our hero relentlessly, of course, and a whole slew of new enemies have been unleashed, as well. Ms. Pac-Man can swallow her trusty power-pills to stay the dark forces, just for a bit. These are scattered about in strategic places, amongst the hundreds of dots. But the dots are the key to the game. Ms. Pac-Man must collect a certain number of dots in a given area to open that area's dot-gate. Once enough are collected, the gate opens, and the next area can be entered. But enemies and dot collection aren't the only challenge present. Ms. Pac-Man will have to contend with various puzzles, from moving blocks in the right order to pass by to blowing obstacles up with TNT in order to reach the goal. Once the four different worlds have been conquered, Ms. Pac-Man will have to face off with Mesmerelda herself.
And that's just the Quest mode. The game also includes a two-player mode that offers several different mini-games to compete in. These include regular dot-chomping, and also variations such as Pass-the-Bomb and a mode where everyone starts out as a ghost and rushes to become Ms. Pac-Man so they can eat their friends. And for fans of classic games, the original version of Ms. Pac-Man is also included. ~ Jon Thompson, All Game Guide
