“A game based on a book is like an old man with a missing leg, you know for a fact it has one hell of a story to tell! This is my epic review of one of the most epic games I have ever played! A game based on: Warfare, death, betrayal and swash-buckling! This game has it all.
Story- Now, I do own a shed load of books: Simon Scarrow, Bernard Cornwell. So as you can imagine; I love my litarature action-packed and historical. Despite this however I have never had the chance to read the Mount and blade novel/s. Truth be told, I was playing this game without knowledge that the book even existed, therefore as you can imagine I don't know a lot on the back story of the Mount and blade warband. However I can tell you there are six factions in the world of Mount and blade warband each with their own strengths and weaknesses. For example nordic huscarls are the best infantry whereas desert horse archers are the best mounted missile units. This allows you as the player to mix and mach these different soldiers together and create your own army... How you want it to look. Better still you can actually get up to 200 soldiers in one army. Allowing for some cinematic battles with one hell of an epic scale.
Gameplay- Don't think your just condemned to watching the A.I doing all the fighting for you... Oh no! You see in Mount and blade warband you don't command, you lead. This means you'll be leading cavalry charges and getting into the thick of the blood shed either on horseback or in the brutal one on one dueling on foot. There are plenty of offensive and defensive moves for you to utilise. You can attack: Overhead, left swipe, right swipe or jab or alternatively you can defend against these attacks in any of the four directions. This combat system means that you'll be immediately engrossed in this easy to learn yet difficult to master combat simulator. And of course you'll be leveling up and trading in towns along the way. Now I know what you're thinking; 'Oh but we've seen this system before in other single-player RPGs! How is this different?' My awnser to this is: a very robust and in-depth multiplayer element that allows you to apply your; hack and slash, archery, riding or jousting skills from singleplayer into a live multiplayer setting with up to 200 players per server. Including arcade gametypes like capture the flag and team death match, to realistic seige battles and the infamous battle mode where everyone is issued 1 life at the start of the match and if they'er killed they don't respawn untill the next round, making games icreasingly tense as more and more people are killed.
Graphics- Now the graphics on Mount and blade range somewhere between poor to below average. However it is clear to see that this is a risky decision by the developers: Taleworlds, as this game can run on almost any computer or most laptops, provided you don't mind turning some settings down a bit. But this was a risk that paid off as hundreds of people are together; ducking as arrows whistle by, dueling each other, charging and butchering each other without the worry of glitches, texture pop-in or worst of all... Lag.
10/10. Overall this is one of my favourite games to date and if the talented modding community keep adding to this game, the sky is the limit for Mount and blade warband. ”

“This is truely one of the better games out there, it takes a full handson approach to a medivial simulation, you start out as single character, and there is basicly no other goal as you set yourself: be a mercenary and hunt bandits, or be a bandit yourself and hunt caravans and peasants, be a fearful warlord and beat the local nobles, or side with them and work for a king. Also the combat is really well done, and can also be played in Multiplayer. Be it as Archer or Crossbow-marksman, Swordfighter or mounted, each have their up and downsides. One of the games i really recommend to play if someone likes medival even just a bit.”

“Well, apparently pulling off a prison break in a major city in the Khergit Khanate is far harder than pulling off a prison break in a castle in Swadia. There's no room to maneuver!”
