“What I liked:
- Visually pleasing; crashes and pileups are good to look at, and the lush new environments are great.
- Many improvements to the original - most importantly with the one thing the original was missing - local multiplayer! This one brings 2-4 player split-screen with or without AI opponents to fill the track.
- A much more improved menu, with the option to create your own custom races, modifying everything from map, time-of-day, lap count, timer, as well as any AI players and their respective difficulties and vehicles.
- The new environments are diverse and very different from the first. Where the first had a focus on canyons and lots of mud, this one takes place in the pacific - there's beaches, thick jungles, open grass, inactive volcanoes, active volcanoes (and lava!), and much more.
- More vehicles, selected from each class of vehicle.
- Some new gameplay elements to boot, such as external heat sources warming your engine faster, and external water sources cooling it down. More emphasis on vehicle-vehicle combat; there's now two specific keys for motorcyclists to elbow their competition in the face in a chosen direction, rather than this being bound to the horn key.

What I didn't like:
- Additional splitscreen players sacrifice some of the visuals in order to prioritise performance and keep the game running smoothly. This is expected, however.”
