Many virtual pet games give players a little digital dog or cat to play with, but the myPhone edition of MobilePet offers exactly what the title implies: a virtual pet mobile phone. The pretend pet phone looks a lot like an Apple iPhone, with a smiling face and stick-figure arms and legs. In order to survive and thrive, the phone pets like attention at regular intervals, similar to other Tamagotchi-style digital creatures. Players feed their pet cell phones virtual media files, give them exercise by having them surf the web, and take them to the in-game computer store if they become ill. At the time of the game's release, myPhone keeps a tally of how well each player's pet phone is cared for, and the high-scorer each month is eligible to win prizes.
