“In Mini Ninjas the player takes the role of Hiro, the last of the ninja left in Ninja Village (on Ninja Mountain). All the other ninja off to investigate the strange storms seen on the horizon, and the mysterious figures seen in the forest, caging the animals, but none have returned.
I found Mini Ninjas enjoyable because -- oh gawd -- it's so very adorable. I must be having middle age hormonal fluctuations or something, but it really is just thoroughly cute, top to bottom, and that made it a delight to play. Mini Ninjas is a fairly standard style run-around-different-zones-and-attack-the-baddies-to-save-the-goodies video game (some people say "action adventure"). The controls are not complex and the AI is both forging and (help me) cute.
There are some things in the UI that I would have liked to have seen polished a bit more. For example, if "3" takes you to a particular screen, it'd be super nice if it were a toggle so that "3" also takes you back out and into play; similarly there are screens that say "press enter to exit" when pressing enter doesn't exit, but pressing space does. But, truly, that's minor and just my own pickiness -- most people likely won't care about such things.
As the player guides Hiro through the lands, they will meet (and hopefully rescue) Hiro's friends, Futo, Suzume, Shun, Tora, and Kunoichi, each of whom they can play after that. The scenery is beautifully charming, the dialog and story knowingly tongue-in-cheek, and the setting is surprisingly calming -- surprising for something of the "action adventure" mold.
Finally, Mini Ninjas is wholly kid safe. The controls wouldn't be difficult for a kid to grasp, and there is no real violence: defeated enemies "pop" and turn back into the adorable, fluffy forest animals they were before they were made into mini samurai. The most difficult part would likely be that Hiro spends some time gathering herbs and mushrooms to make potions, but since the inventory page has all the ingredients graphically represented, it shouldn't be too awfully hard to figure out, even for youngster.
Mini Ninjas is a good few hours of fun. I highly recommend it, especially if you can pick it up in a discounted Steam pack or some other similar deal.

“Well to me, just putting the word 'Ninja' in a game gets a star but they did a pretty good job on this game to make it fun for all ages. The setting of the mood from right when you set of as Hiro, the last hope is an adventure full of laughs. The scenery of the game was amazing, so many things to stop and look at to delay your quest to stop the evil samurai. One drawback to this game was the items they would set you out to find. they are like the ******* hardest things to find and you have to get like 30-40 each level. What makes it worst is that they made it so in a lot of area's you can't go back, so you will have to restart the whole thing to find one item you may have ended up missing. As you go on in your quest you get other ninja which in my opinion are useless. At the end of the day if your just going with the flow of the game not trying to find the items, it is and overall good game. [Rent it!]”
