DESCRIPTION
In Miner 2049er for the Atari 5200, you control Bounty Bob, a mounty in pursuit of Yukon Yohan, an evil murderer and fur trapper. Storyline aside, your basic job is to "claim" ten different mine stations. You do this by walking on all the sections of framework (platforms) in each of the ten levels of play. When you walk across a section of framework, it turns solid. You advance to the next stage only when you have made solid all of the sections within a specified period of time. The faster you finish a level, the more points you get.
While filling in the framework on each level, you will be chased by mutants. If you grab one of the mining tools which are placed throughout the game, your enemies change color, becoming temporarily vulnerable to your attack. When the mutants are in their normal state, you must jump over or avoid them to keep yourself safe from harm. Along with walking, jumping, and filling in framework, the action in this game consists of climbing up and down ladders, riding on moving platforms, being hoisted by a hydraulic pump, going down slides, using elevators, and shooting yourself out of a cannon. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
