Not so very far in the future, humans have taken to space, and various colonies exist in the solar system. Europa, a moon of Jupiter, houses a prominent science station full of productive, but relatively bored scientists. Eventually, a kind of competition forms. "Say, what if we took some of these robotic vehicles, outfitted them with various components, and programmed them to participate in various competitions?" Viola so begins the next hobby sensation. (Just add water).
Mindrover is a puzzle game that breaks down into different scenarios. Each scenario has specific objectives that you must accomplish to complete them. The player is allocated a certain number of points to construct a rover with. You then choose a rover chassis and various components, each cost points, depending upon their characteristics. The final task is to wire (program) them together such a way that accomplishes the scenario objectives. There are four different kinds of scenarios, such as races, battles, sports, or misc. (Mazes, puzzles, etc). Succeed, and you're given more advanced components, more advanced tools (wiring/programming methods), and more complex adjectives.
The scenario comes with pre-configured opponents, but all scenarios are customizable. Beaten the first opponent? Try to beat your own designs! Rovers can also be stored/mailed/traded with others for competing. Try to beat your friends' rovers! Cognitoy has modfications available. Download new scenarios/components from www.cognitoy.com. Competition isn't simultaneous, but it can be almost limitless. ~ The Jaded Critic, All Game Guide
