Get a blast from gaming's hallowed past with Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits: Volume 1 for Nintendo 64. Six ravenous quarter-munchers from the early 1980s are included: Defender, Joust, Robotron: 2084, Sinistar, Root Beer Tapper and Spy Hunter. Joust offers a two-player simultaneous mode while the rest of the games feature alternating turns. You'll need eight pages of free space on your Controller Pak to save high scores, settings, and controller configurations. An arcade trivia challenge is also included to test your knowledge of video game facts and history.
As the pilot of a starfighter that can shoot right and left, drop smart bombs, and warp into hyperspace, your goal in Defender is to save a planet from waves of hostile alien forces. Joust has you dueling a fearsome army of evil as a knight mounted on a flying ostrich. Armed with a robot laser gun that shoots in four directions, you must defend the planet's last human family in Robotron: 2084. Sinistar places you in a free-roaming ship deep in space. Your goal is to destroy the evil Sinistar by gathering minerals for use in forging bombs.
You are the last barkeep in Root Beer Tapper, and your businesses are packed with thirsty customers. Dish out mugs of the frosty stuff as cowboys, athletes, punk rockers, and aliens sidle up to four different bars. Spy Hunter is an overhead view, vertically scrolling combat racing game. Your job is to destroy tire-disabling Switchblades, bulletproof Road Lords, and other enemy vehicles while making sure you don't accidentally take out innocent motorists. From time to time you will leave the road and take to the waterways in a prototype speedboat. ~ All Game Guide
