DESCRIPTION
The follow-up to Mickey's Safari in Letterland, Mickey's Adventures in Numberland is a well-made educational game under the guise of a platformer. The focus is on teaching the numbers one through ten, counting, and basic addition. The player controls Mickey Mouse as he runs and jumps through five different stages like Number City, Number Factory, and the Space Center, with the goal of collecting at least one instance of the required number and making it to the exit. At the end of each stage, bonus items are displayed in the form of an addition equation and the player must correctly count a number of objects or solve a math problem in order to progress. There are three difficulty levels that affect the complexity of the stages, but only on the hardest level can Mickey actually lose a life by running into hazards. For the most part, the game is structured so that there are only rewards, not penalties. The visuals are rather sparse in terms of detail, but they're still attractive and well-animated enough to please a younger audience. The music is pleasant if somewhat repetitive, but the real auditory highlight is the voice of Mickey himself, who clearly speaks the numbers as well as phrases like "Oh boy, let's go!" ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
