DESCRIPTION
With its near-perfect blend of action, challenge and audio-visual excellence, Mega Man became one of the NES' biggest hits, spawning multiple sequels and spin-offs on various platforms. Taking place in the year 20XX, the well-meaning scientist Dr. Wright (later known as Dr. Light) has created seven robot laborers programmed for use in industrial situations. Unfortunately, all but one, named Mega Man, went buggy in the process. Taking advantage of the situation, Wright's assistant Dr. Wily steals the robots and reprograms them for his own evil intentions of conquering the world. Left with only one functional robot, Dr. Wright sends Mega Man after the six renegade robots: Cutman, Elecman, Gutsman, Iceman, Fireman and Bombman, each inhabiting a level themed after their intended occupation and powers. Your goal as "the blue bomber" (as he would later come to be nicknamed) is to progress through each of the six levels in whatever order you choose, braving dangers, destroying foes and eventually destroying the boss within. Upon their destruction, you'll gain the robot's trademark weapon, which can be used to exploit weakness of another boss. ~ Geoffrey Douglas Smith, All Game Guide

“The beginning of an ENORMOUS franchise, and my second favorite game on the NES. The gameplay is the same as the other games in the series aside from the lack of charge beam and the slide move. Classic set of bosses, and the difficulty is pretty high up there. Excellent stages and classic music are a huge part of this game's greatness as they are consistently as impressive as they are nostalgic. Not as large-scale and refined as Mega Man 2 (Often considered the greatest of the original series) but wonderful nevertheless. (owned on Anniversary Collection, completed, Accurate score is 8.00)”

“Yeah--scan quality is crap. This was a design attempt to figure out how the in comic character "Dave"... or "Author" would best look. This is a fan work of the classic...”

“Play through Mario with characters such as Link, Samus Aran, Megaman, Simon Belmont or Bill - that guy from Contra! You could be Mario too, but we've already done that a thousand times! Rumor has it...”

“Played for a bit, but the controller for my NES is mangled, it makes actually playing it a pain. On top of that, even if you get used to the crap controller, those wire platforms in Guts Man's stage...”
