DESCRIPTION
Kurt Hectic and companions are back to save the world from marauding aliens in MDK 2, the sequel to 1997s MDK. After saving Earth from the extra-dimensional hordes of aliens and destroying the last of their giant resource-harvesting mine crawlers, Kurt Hectic, his employer Dr. Fluke Hawkins and the cyborg canine Max are relaxing onboard their ship. Predictably, trouble rears its ugly head again, this time in the form of an overlooked mine crawler savaging Edmonton — and our heroes are off into the fray once again.
You take on the role of all three main characters in MDK 2. While the game continues the traditional whimsical, tongue-in-cheek humor established in the original, there are still hordes of alien baddies to defeat. Gameplay varies depending on which of the three characters you control at any given time and the designers have provided an intuitive control interface that allows transition between the three modes.
As Hectic, you must master your coil suit's gliding ability to leap from precarious platform to precarious platform while employing the built-in chain gun to mow down hordes of well-armed aliens. For the majority of difficult task assignments, Hectic has use of a sniper rifle utilized for a range of activities from simple target shooting to trick shots when encountering bosses in the game.
Playing as Max, the cigar-chewing, gun-toting, six legged robotic dog, you'll blaze away at score after score of the alien menace and his use of a jetpack provides the means for solving some flying puzzles as well. As Dr. Fluke Hawkins, the scientist, you combine ordinary objects, such as duct tape and a loaf of bread, into whimsical gadgets to get past the aliens. Combining items correctly for use in appropriate situations is tantamount to completion of the game.
The game offers a variety of puzzles blended with action-oriented gunfights in ten unique environments. Ready to take on the alien menace and reclaim Earth? You get your chance in MDK 2. ~ Matt Wilson, All Game Guide
