DESCRIPTION
MDK 2 is the sequel to MDK, a critically acclaimed third-person shooter on the PC. Kurt Hectic, assistant to the wily Dr. Fluke Hawkins, travels to space following Dr. Hawkins and his work. Above the atmosphere, Hawkins concentrates on his experiments away from the critical eye of his peers.
While in space, Hawkins completed an artificial intelligence experiment in the form of Max, a canine with six legs and a curious love for explosives and firepower. Meanwhile, the earth is attacked by strange space aliens who deploy great machines called "minecrawlers" to lay waste to Kurt's home planet.
In order to combat the aliens and save his planet, Dr. Hawkins developed a special "coil suit" designed to provide resistance against the aliens and put a stop to their uprising. The suit is then fitted for the physique of a reluctant Kurt Hectic, whose new janitorial duties are nothing short of mopping up the foreign scum infesting the planet.
Kurt was successful in eliminating all minecrawlers and even defeated the mastermind behind the invasion, a grotesque alien named Gunter Glut. The battle is seemingly over, but just as our heroes relax after an assumed victory, one more minecrawler is found — in Edmonton of all places. Kurt is again called upon to rid the earth of its terror, all the while wishing he could clean up the doctor's messes instead.
MDK 2 is in itself a third-person shooter with puzzle elements incorporated within the levels. Players will take on the roles of Kurt Hectic, Dr. Fluke Hawkins and Max throughout the course of the game. All three heroes have different combat styles and fighting abilities, combining third-person action along with some first-person elements such as Kurt's sniper mode.
There are several different weapons and gadgets depending on which character you choose. Kurt has, among other devices, a parachute and chain gun while Max sports a jetpack and Hawkins can combine items. The enemies consist of a variety of aliens ranging from small, fast critters to big, hulking creatures bristling with weapons. MDK 2 also sports a unique control system with all four face buttons used for movement. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
