DESCRIPTION
Math for the Real World, developed by Kaplan and published by Knowledge Adventure, puts players into a band that is touring its way around the country, trying to raise money to make a video for their song.
Sonny, Grace, 8 Track, Sam, Rusty and Zibby need the player's help to solve the math problems that come up along the way. In addition, players have a food meter as well as a gas meter. When either of the meters get low, players must stop for gas or food, both of which involve more math solving. Each time one of the band members' problems is solved, they receive more cash for their piggy bank. They can then pay for scenes for their videos and whatever mishaps are encountered along the way
Players see how math works in the real world with prices and change, working with money and percents and fractions among other things. Players may also set the number of cities on the tour, which song they play and more from the screen in the agent's office. All of the band names they can choose are math-related.
Math for the Real World contains a total of 4,000 problems and is aimed at young people ages ten and up. In addition to math, fractions and money, emphasis is also placed on decimals, time problems and measurements. ~ Lisa Karen Savignano, All Game Guide

“A collection of story problems with animated transitions, a money system, and a music video studio. It's basically a digitized textbook with perks. Strictly kids fare with little redeeming value for people who know math.”
