DESCRIPTION
Mass Effect 2 is a role-playing game with an outer space, science fiction setting and action-oriented, third-person shooter play. The game is released as the second in a planned a trilogy from BioWare, designed for Xbox 360 and Windows-based home computers. Players resume the role of Commander Shepard, the customizable protagonist of the first game, choosing the hero's gender, appearance, skills, and abilities to match personal preferences and playing styles. Combat is squad-based, as in the original game, and players may choose their teammates from a roster of stealthy assassins, superhumanly strong warriors, and brilliant masters of mystical powers. The game's main quest is seen as a suicide mission, so assembling a team that is not only able but also willing to follow Shepard into the dangerous unknown of deep space remains a role-playing challenge throughout the adventure.
Mass Effect 2's continuing story involves the appearance of a race of insect-like humanoids, which appears to have been abducting entire colonies of humans from the fringes of known space. To investigate this new threat, Shepard works in league with the ruthless Cerberus organization, a powerful and secretive group whose only morality is the survival of the human species, at any cost. Although anyone is free to create a new character and make a fresh start in the game, players who completed the original Mass Effect may use save files to continue their adventures in the sequel, using the same customized version of the hero they lead through the first game. Similarly, the outcome of the final mission of Mass Effect 2 may influence players' options as they begin the final game in the trilogy, whether Shepard remains to lead another mission against all odds, or is remembered as a brave warrior who made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of all humanity. ~ T.J. “The Mass Effect series is basically the "Star Wars" of video games, and Mass Effect 2 is its "The Empire Strikes Back". The games tone is much more dark than the first one. It's literally the middle ground between RPGs and Third-person Shooters. I praise Bioware for valuing dialogue in their games and not sacrificing its quality for gameplay. The Mass Effect universe is rich with lore and each character is unique and interesting. This game makes you care for your teammates(Garrus FTW). All together its a action paced space epic with a compelling story.”

“Sequels should improve on the formula, and I believe that Mass Effect 2 did this in almost every way. However, that usually comes at a cost. BioWare dumbed-down some of the RPG elements. I mean, I get why...doing so made game more attractive to a broader audience; more customers mean more money. I understand that. Thankfully, they didn't cut corners where it counts. The story, characters, and (main) voice acting are all great. The graphics got a much needed upgrade with more "Wow! and less "Déjà vu..." Combat was given an overhaul and difficulty was given a kick in the pants. The end result was a more exciting and cinematic experience.
My only complaint is with the game's AI. Your teammates are stupid. Even when you tell them what to do, they're still stupid. If you tell them to take cover, I can't guarantee they won't stand on top of the object you told them to take cover behind. You'd think they like getting shot!
Stupid teammates shouldn't keep you from picking up a copy of this game though. It's a great title and now one of my all-time favorites.
For the TL;DR Crowd:
It's freaking awesome!”

“So it turns out that "Romanced Miranda" will show up on your imported ME2 file...even if you just flirted and didn't do the deed. Oh well, Shep'll be in the doghouse with Liara.”

“Insanity Run I recruited Samara and completed Miranda's loyalty mission. Things are finally getting easier to kill. I imagine that will change soon enough.”
