DESCRIPTION
Mass Effect 2 is a role-playing game with an outer space, science fiction setting and action-oriented, third-person shooter play. The game is released as the second in a planned trilogy from BioWare, designed for Xbox 360 and Windows-based home computers. Players resume the role of Commander Shepard, the customizable protagonist of the first game, choosing the hero's gender, appearance, skills, and abilities to match personal preferences and playing styles. Combat is squad-based, as in the original game, and players may choose their teammates from a roster of stealthy assassins, superhumanly strong warriors, and brilliant masters of mystical powers. The game's main quest is seen as a suicide mission, so assembling a team that is not only able but also willing to follow Shepard into the dangerous unknown of deep space remains a role-playing challenge throughout the adventure.
Mass Effect 2's continuing story involves the appearance of a race of insect-like humanoids, which appears to have been abducting entire colonies of humans from the fringes of known space. To investigate this new threat, Shepard works in league with the ruthless Cerberus organization, a powerful and secretive group whose only morality is the survival of the human species, at any cost. Although anyone is free to create a new character and make a fresh start in the game, players who completed the original Mass Effect may use save files to continue their adventures in the sequel, using the same customized version of the hero they lead through the first game. Similarly, the outcome of the final mission of Mass Effect 2 may influence players' options as they begin the final game in the trilogy, whether Shepard remains to lead another mission against all odds, or is remembered as a brave warrior who made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of all humanity.
Along with the full game and documentation, the Mass Effect 2: Collector's Edition ships in a metallic case and includes a hardcover book of game art, a copy of the first issue of the Mass Effect Redemption comic from Dark Horse, and a DVD documentary of the development of the game, as well as exclusive access to an in-game weapon and armor that can give Shepard slightly different stats and abilities. ~ T.J. “Mass Effect 2 is more then just a sequel to the 2007 hit-game. It is that and so so so much more. The game is a true blend of action and role-playing. While it is true that The game does not have an Inventory screen. It still allows you to get items and stuff to raise youre stats. Also It is possibly the most cinematic game I have ever played. Everything from talking to Characters to defeating the evil forces in the galaxy. The camera views, music, and espically the voice acting is just simply amazing and makes you on more then one ocassion think youre watching a movie. Mass Effect 2 should be played by any gamer with a pulse. While it may leave some Die hard RPGists dissapointed. Its still is an enjoyable game that will eat many, many of youre weekends away. So what are you waiting for?! GO PLAY IT!!!!”

“(Possible SPOILERS)The sequel gave me what I wanted: more interaction with my squadmates. However, this entire game is nothing but that. It doesn't have the epic feel of the first one and as such, I cannot say that this game is better. Sure I got my teammates through the danger, all unscathed. This was supposed to be a suicide mission but I never felt any danger. I did however feel very frustrated, quite often. While the mechanics of shooting has improved tenfold, this game also makes you rely on having to shoot way too much. The biotics and techs were dumbed down until you got the baddies to just their health. Then all it took was a good head shot and they went down, no matter if they were a giant mech or a tiny trooper. So far I've only played as the soldier, since that was my first class in the first game, and I totally feel cheated. While my character didn't have special powers, my teammates were all but useless until I was able to bust down shields and barriers for them to do any damage.
So, while this game is awesome, in and of itself, it is not an awesome Mass Effect sequel. I got my character interaction, but that's the entire game. There isn't really a sense of threat from the Reapers, and the main baddie doesn't have a voice, like Saren and even Sovereign. Harbinger was in it for half a second and then you didn't even get to kill him. The shooter mechanics were amped, but it gimped the not shooter battler. I recommend this game, but not as a Mass Effect game.”

“Always a shame when a good game Finishes. Thane died, but he was terminally Ill anyways, and the illusive man is mad at me, but that's cool, he had neat eyes, but he was a real crybaby.”
