“For sure! I'd love to play more some time, I am still trying to unlock all the cards for all of my decks. Online play was fun,but I guess it made me realize exactly how much time I spend deliberating plays sometimes or discarding hands because I start with crappy draws. Can't really do that in a live game for ettiquette's sake, but thanks for playing with me and kicking my ass a little bit :)”

“next time we play, feel free to take as much time as you want. I love playing board games in real life so i don't mind waiting.

I'm glad you had fun. I had alot of fun too.

So far i have only unlocked most of the cards for the deck i played and like half for the mono-green.

I'm away for the weekend, but when i get back we can play some more!”

“That's because you're no good hahahah.

Nah, just kidding. These decks have very poor consistency, games rely too much on luck because sometimes your draws are good but more often than not you draw cards you don't need. I lowered the difficulty to the lowest available so I could unlock my cards without too much problem and I play online if I want a challenge.
I always play against Jace because he has the weakest deck, and the computer is no good with it, casting Boomerang and Unsummon and Counterspells when he should hold them.”

Turns out, that was true! I played the green deck for a while and was doing good. Then i found a red deck FAQ.

I was able to complete the last third of the campaign with the red deck. I agree, the decks are somewhat wonky. The worst part is you can't remove any of the starting cards. Some of them just suck or are useless as singles.

“Yeah, I wish we could remove cards from those cards as we unlock new ones. I mean, Grizzly bears? In a mono green deck? What better card could there be? except for EVERY FRIGGIN TWO DROP? They put Elf Warrior in the elf deck, it also has his place in this deck.
And the blue deck is a fest of ineficiency. The only way I can win with it in multiplayer is by laying low and turtling behind Wall of Spears (which is an awesome card).”

“Its an odd little system. You have to beat the single player campaign mode to unlock new cards for your existing decks. There are 17 unlockable cards for each, but in many cases, they are just replicas of good cards you already have to increase the power of your deck. There is an "edit deck" option but its not as though you have hundreds of cards to choose from, so in a way, yes.

My first thought though, was : why can't you build decks in these games and why do they allow you access to so few cards? But my immediate assumption was that they'll do like they do with cards and release expansions.

Maybe not, but it seems feasible!

Basically though, its only 800 points and I wanted Max Payne so I just bought a big bundle of points and bought both. For $20 you can get Max Payne and Magic, so I figured why not? I've spent $20 on worse before!”

“Sounds like a good buy. for 20 bucks you would get like one and a half real life starter decks of magic... and no Max Payne.

It seems to me a better deal than the Magic Online game. Its ten bucks, then you have to buy individual cards!

“Hahah no problem. I play a lot of WoW TCG, so I think in terms of card packs. When I'm going to buy something else, I think "Well, that would cost... 4 WoW TCG packs... which do I want more?"

Bless these games and giving us a new unit of measurement.

Let me know when/if you get Magic, I want to try out the xbox live play!”
